Watching cars go round and round on the tracks, trying to one-up each other, to win another spot, move faster and faster has a certain charm to it. So, if you’re curious about how it’s best to watch NASCAR without cable, we have you covered. There are over 1,500 races organized by Nascar all over the United States, so you have a lot of ground to cover.
When to Watch NASCAR Races?
The racing season, as always, starts in February and is set to end in November, which means there are a lot of races to take place and a lot of events to enjoy.
First up, the crown jewel of the season is the Daytona 500. Other important events are the Monster Energy NASCAR All-Star Race, or the Coke Zero 400.
According to the schedule they released back in April 2018, the first race of the season is on February 10 – Advance Auto Parts Clash. The Daytona 500, which we mentioned, will take place on February 17th. Then, the season ends with the Ford EcoBoost 400 on November 17th.
Where to Watch NASCAR Races?
There are loads of races throughout the year, so it’s a good thing there are lots of channels to cover them. The broadcasting rights have been distributed between Fox Sports, FS1, NBC Sports, and NBC. If there are scheduling conflicts, CNBC or USA will take over NBC Sports’ races, while FS2 will take over any races from FS1. If you’re looking for races with Spanish commentary, Telemundo Deportes, Universo, and Fox Deportes are the place to go.
How to Watch NASCAR Online from Anywhere?
Watching the NASCAR races online is super great, but there are some hold-ups you need to consider, such as the fact that the live TV platforms that feature the events may not be available in your area. Yes, unfortunately, some channels such as NBC or the FOX RSAs are only available in certain locations. Luckily for you, these platforms know your location by looking at your IP address, which is super easy to change. That being said, you should subscribe to a VPN service since it will come in handy in multiple situations. Let’s see what you need to do.
- The first thing you need to take care of is finding a VPN. We’ve done quite a few reviews over the years and we can easily recommend you go for ExpressVPN. So, visit ExpressVPN, subscribe to the service and download the app.
- Once that’s done, you can install the app and launch it. Log into your account and find a server.
- If you live in a city that doesn’t get coverage for the right channels, you should pick a server that’s located in a city that does have it, which is usually a big metropolitan area like New York City, or Chicago, or Los Angeles. Connect to the one you want.
- When the connection goes green, you can load the live TV platform you chose to enjoy the NASCAR races on, such as fuboTV.
- Go ahead and see whether your favorites win the race.
Note: We have to dive into this here too, but that VPN service you chose to subscribe to will also come in handy if you ever travel abroad. Live TV platforms and channel streams on their websites are geoblocked, so you can only watch if you’re within the United States. Therefore, if you ever travel abroad, power up your VPN, pick a US-based server, and you’re good to go.
How to Watch NASCAR Without Cable?
In this day and age, it has become easier than ever to watch TV online because there are so many live TV platforms to choose from, plus the live streams TV channels offer on their own websites. Live TV platforms, however, offer viewers a much cheaper option to watch TV than cable does, and it gives people the freedom to watch from wherever they may be when the events they love to start airing. In order to watch NASCAR races, there are quite a few options for those interested and we’ll dive right into them.

Following next, we recommend Sling TV, a great platform that allows users to customize their plans to a great extent. You can now sign up for Sling TV for a preferential price by paying $15 per month for Orange or Blue, as well as $25 per month for Orange + Blue per month. The original prices are $25 per month for Orange or Blue and $40 per month for Orange + Blue. The promo price is only available for the first month of subscription before reverting to the regular price. Then, you can add loads of extra channel packs grouped by interest, and premium networks.
The platform features loads of channels you need to stream NASCAR. Like NBC, NBC Sports, USA, Fox Sports RSNs, FS1, and FS2 are all in the Blue and Orange + Blue bundles. Universo can be found in the Best of Spanish channel pack, which costs $5 per month, while CNBC is in the News Pack which also costs $5 per month.
Sling TV doesn’t offer subscribers any cloud DVR space with their plans, but you can get it as an extra for $5 per month for 50 hours of space. The service also supports multiple streams at the same time, but the number you get to enjoy depends on what bundle you picked when you started off. The Orange bundle comes with a single stream, Blue comes with three, while Orange + Blue supports four simultaneous streams. Read our Sling TV review to understand it better.

Another great platform is Hulu, famous for the video on demand service it offers. For $44.99 per month, however, users can also enjoy live TV on top of the VOD library, so you can have some fun. There are also a couple of extra channel packs and some premium networks you can add to customize the service.
Hulu’s single bundle includes loads of channels, especially some that will help you watch NASCAR – NBC, NBC Sports, CNBC, USA, Fox Sports RSNs, FS1, and FS2. Universo is packed up in the Espanol pack.
If you want to make sure you’ll get to watch all races, you can get Hulu to record them for you. All subscribers get 50 hours of cloud DVR space for free but will have to pay $14.99 per month if they want to upgrade to 200 hours. Watching content on multiple devices is also possible here, with the cap set at two. There’s an additional feature you can get, however, called “Unlimited Screens” which costs $14.99 per month. The “unlimited” part only works if you’re on the Home network, so you get three simultaneous streams if you’re out. Make sure to five our Hulu review a readthrough to understand the service.
4. YouTube TV

Up next we have another platform with a single bundle – YouTube TV. Priced at $49.99 per month, YouTube TV offers dozens of channels and the single way to get more is to add premium networks.
There are many ways to watch NASCAR here too. NBC, NBC Sports, Universo, CNBC, USA, Fox Sports RSNs, FS1, and FS2 are present on YouTube TV’s list.
The perks of being a company under Alphabet Inc.’s umbrella can be seen in this next section. The cloud DVR feature offered with YouTube TV is unlimited – you can record as many videos as you want and the recordings stay for 9 months. You can also watch content on up three devices at once, which is an improvement on platforms that require you pay for that third screen. Make sure to give our YouTube TV review a read.
5. DirecTV Now

We also have DirecTV Now on our list, which is a pretty versatile platform to check out. There are seven bundles to choose from here, with two of them having been added recently, namely Plus and Max. The other five bundles have been around for a long time but they only recently got a new name and a new price. You can still add packs featuring Spanish or International channels, and premium networks.
On DirecTV Now, you’ll find loads of channels you need to watch NASCAR on. NBC, USA, FS1, NBCSN, and Fox Sports RSAs are available through all bundles, while CNBC makes an appearance in Plus, Max, Entertainment, Choice, Xtra, and Ultimate. Universo is also part of the Xtra, Ultimate, and Optimo Mas bundles, as well as the DirecTV Now Espanol pack for $15 per month.
This platform offers subscribers 20 hours of cloud DVR space, which isn’t much, but at least it’s something. Unfortunately, you can’t upgrade this feature in any way, so you’re stuck with those 20 hours unless they do an update soon. Users can also watch content on two devices at once, with a third becoming available for $5 per month. We have a DirecTV Now review with a lot of info you’ll find useful.

PlayStation is last on our list, a service that managed to get the highest score among all live TV services while we were reviewing them. There are four bundles you can pick to start off with – Access ($49.99/mo), Core ($54.99/mo), Elite ($64.99/mo), and Ultra ($84.99/mo). Then, you can add a few extra channel packs, if you’d like, or premium networks. If you’re a PlayStation Plus member, you can even get them for a better price.
On PlayStation Vue, you’ll find loads of channels we’re sure you’ll like. NBC, NBC Sports, CNBC, USA, FS1, and FS2 are found in all four bundles. Universo can be found in the Espanol channel pack, which costs $4.99 per month, or $3.99 per month for PS Plus members, while Fox Sports is available via the Sports pack, which is $10 per month.
Those who want to record shows and events to the cloud can do so easily because all subscribers get enough cloud DVR space to save some 500 recordings. At the same time, you can enjoy five simultaneous streams on PlayStation Vue, which is the most we’ve seen, and it’s at no additional cost. Another thing we think is worth mentioning is the Split Screen feature, which makes it possible to watch three programs at once, on the same screen. Read our PlayStation Vue review to get all the details.
Can You Use a TV Antenna to Watch NASCAR?
You sure can, although it’s not going to be all the races. TV antennas have been popular for a long time among cord cutters because they’re relatively cheap and then you can watch TV for free. You will be able to check out races that are broadcast over on NBC, FOX, and any FOX RSAs.
Offer
That being said, you should check ahead of time on a site like NoCable where you can input your address and they’ll tell you what networks are available in your area and how strong the broadcasting signal is. If it all checks out, you can go ahead and buy yourself a TV antenna. Keep in mind, however, that you’ll get about a dozen channels to watch only, so it’s a pretty big jump from what cable has to offer. On the other hand, it’s free, so you can’t complain.
The 2019 NASCAR racing season is here and we couldn’t be more excited to watch the races and we sure you are too. Hopefully, we’ve helped you find a platform that will enable you to watch all the races you want to watch. We’d love to hear what platform you ended up picking to watch NASCAR online, so leave us a comment in the section below. Please share the article online if you can, and follow TechNadu on Facebook and Twitter for more tech news.

Needs more interesting articles
Needs more interesting and informative articles or videos. Be cool to see more on history of nascar as well as Direct information from teams and drives. It help if more top notch sport journalist would get involved and enthusiastic and passionate about nascar and would give that good reporting. Tv has done good with Gordon and Earnhardt jr. getting involved. What they bring is real passion to the broadcast. And they help a viewer how many think driving in circles is boring or even stupid learn about how intense it really is. This app needs that. But gives you information about practice and qualifying if your at work or something. And the option to the in car cameras is so cool as well as the scanner access. But pretty dull through week.
Love the app BUT....
I've been a paying subscriber for several years and love being able to hear conversations between driver, crew chief and spotter. That brings a new dimension to TV coverage.
This year however the app works fine for trucks and Xfinity races but when the cup race comes I am unable to connect to paid functions most importantly the scanner, crew chief and leader board features. I have to call and try to convince support that (1) I paid for the entire season and (2) that the problem is real. So far they’ve been able to get me connected but I’ve often missed a number of laps. Often the leaderboard and crew chief screens don’t agree with each other-a bit disconcerting. My plea is please fix the bugs and tell me how to avoid the weekly cup issue because otherwise I still love the app.

Revised for 2018 - WOW!
It’s nice to know that these reviews are taken seriously. Thanks to all who made the improvements for 2018.
I was one of the biggest critics last year for the endless advertisements in a PAID app (see my last years review below).
You folks have outdone yourselves.
Not only have the ads been removed, the live experience has gotten even better! Radio chatter and in-car cameras are actually slightly AHEAD of the TV broadcast.
I wholeheartedly recommend this app to everyone who considers themselves a NASCAR fan. It truly is the next best thing to being at the track!
Keep up the great work and I’ll be a subscriber for many years to come.

2017 Review
I use the live content for almost every XFINITY & Cup race. Although there's a long delay between TV coverage and driver radio chatter, it is well worth the price.
HOWEVER, the rest of the app content is FRUSTRATING!!! Most other apps remove ads with a couple extra bucks. They charge $25 and STILL force ads with every video clip and put links to additional ads around every screen.
PLEASE remove the ads or I'll skip this app next year.
